Bank of America boosted Amazon''s price target after earnings to $210, eyeing 17% upside from Wednesday''s price levels. The confidence was largely driven by accelerating growth of AWS and increased retail margins. Amazon''s Q2 guidance slightly fell short of Wall Street''s expectations, but Bofa still sees upside ahead. Amazon stock could soar as its latest earnings herald a "new era" of profits for the tech behemoth, according to Bank of America. Bank of America analysts bumped up their price target for Amazon shares to $210 from $204, marking a 17% jump from Wednesday afternoon prices around $178, thanks to the tech giant''s estimate-beating earnings in the first quarter. In a note sent to clients on Wednesday, Bofa''s global research team led by Justin Post highlighted a major positive sign from the CEO''s earnings call: Margins can continue to expand despite the company ramping up its investment. Analysts said "a new era for retail profitability" could be dawning for Amazon. The bank said they remain optimistic about the two key stock drivers for the company: accelerating AWS growth that''s outperformed peers, and the potential higher retail profit margins as Amazon expands.
Sell-side analysts have ratings on specific stocks, and based on them, they recommend to clients whether they should buy, sell or stay away from them. Analyst upgrades and downgrades can significantly influence the stock market, affecting both stocks with analyst upgrades, individual stock prices and broader market sentiment. For example, when an analyst upgrades a stock, he/she is suggesting a stronger performance or more favorable outlook than previously anticipated. As a result, this action often leads to an immediate increase in the stock price. That happens because the upgrade is seen as a validation of the company’s potential, making the stock more attractive to investors. Conversely, a downgrade can lead to a quick decline in the stock price, as it signals concerns about the company’s prospects or macro headwinds. Upgrades and downgrades also affect overall investor sentiment. An upgrade can boost confidence, leading more investors to buy into not only the specific stock but sometimes also the sector or the market as a whole.
To paraphrase Rudyard Kipling, the secret to success in the stock market is to “keep your head when all about you are losing theirs.” When everyone is panicking and sending the market lower, that’s the time for you to be cool as a cucumber and look for stocks to buy on dips. Finding stocks to buy on dips in the broader market is where profits are made. Yet it’s not easy to do in practice. Most people will think “what do they know that I don’t?” While Kipling also said to “make allowance for their doubt,” investors need to realize that market crashes are where you’re able to buy low so that you can sell high later. Below are three stocks where you can profit from the panic of others. If their prices become steals, they are surefire stocks to buy on the dip. Bank of America (BAC) Source: Tero Vesalainen/Shutterstock Having advantages beyond just getting bailed out by taxpayers, being too big to fail comes with its perks. It means you can live to fight another day and become a larger, more integral part of the banking system.

Wall Street is abuzz over the Viking Holdings (NYSE: VIK ) stock initial public offering (IPO) as the cruise operator begins trading today. With the offering, Viking raised $1.54 billion on about 64 million shares , implying a valuation of about $10.3 billion. This makes it one of the largest U.S. stock market debuts so far this year. Viking priced its IPO close to the top end of its range at $24 per share. The company is set to begin trading later today, as investors eagerly await the chance to grab up one of the most promising offerings in recent memory. Viking is perhaps best-known for art and history-rich river tours throughout much of Europe, although its fleet now expands across the globe. Despite the expansion, Viking still primarily appeals to older, wealthier travelers seeking a more luxury experience. “We maintain a clear focus on our most relevant customer group: English-speaking travelers aged 55 years old and over, who have the time, money and desire to explore the world,” wrote Viking founder and CEO Torstein Hagen . “We do not try to be all things to all people, which is why we only offer a single-language experience on board our ships; there are no casinos; and children under 18 are not allowed.” So, what do you need to know about Viking ahead of its stock market debut? 7 Things to Know About the VIK Stock IPO Viking will trade on the New York Stock Exchange later on Wednesday, May 1, under the “VIK” ticker symbol.
