With global leaders fighting for the world to go green, investors may want to put money into renewable energy stocks – especially on weakness. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA) , “Renewables are set to dominate the growth of the world’s electricity supply over the next three years as together with nuclear power they meet the vast majority of the increase in global demand through to 2025, making significant rises in the power sector’s carbon emissions unlikely, according to a new IEA report.” Plus, as we’re already aware 200 countries agreed to transition from fossil fuels, drafting text that would result in tripling renewable energy capacity at the 2023 Conference of the Parties . With that, according to the IEA, the world has a “ real chance ” of achieving those COP28 targets. The agency added that the world added about 510 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity in 2023, a 50% jump year over year. That being said, investors may want to invest in renewable energy stocks such as: NexGen Energy (NXE) Source: RHJPhtotos / Shutterstock More than 22 countries pledged to triple their nuclear capacity at COP28 — all noting that nuclear energy was critical for cutting emissions.
Going against the crowd isn’t easy. Buying stocks that others are selling en masse takes nerves of steel. After all, why would you want to buy a stock so many investors are selling? There must be something wrong with it, right? Well, maybe. The wisdom of crowds isn’t infallible. Fear and greed are the primary factors that send investors running from a stock or to it. And when they see others reacting they either want to get out quick or jump on the bandwagon. A company could just have a short-term problem that will soon clear up. That’s when you would want to rush in when others are running out. As Warren Buffett once noted, be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful. These three stocks are hitting their 52-week lows . Let’s see whether you should be greedy or fearful with each. Boeing (BA) Source: vaalaa / Shutterstock.com The optics for Boeing (NYSE: BA ) aren’t good. Following a hatch door popping off mid-flight on a Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft, came a series of additional mishaps : A tire fell off the landing gear, an engine caught fire, an external panel fell off and there have been hydraulic system problems.
Renewable energy is critical for achieving our climate goals, but we’re still far off in meeting the net-zero emissions target by 2050. Major step-changes will be needed to fill the gap, which will make renewable energy stocks all the more relevant. A potential Biden win in 2024 could be a major catalyst for the renewable energy space, after a disappointing year last year. Inconsistent weather patterns, supply chain hiccups, and the energy crisis following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine weighed down the sector in 2023. Consequently, one of the leading ETFs in the sector, the iShares Global Clean Energy ETF (NASDAQ: ICLN ) shed a dramatic 27% of its value last year. Nevertheless, the sector could be in for a much-needed boost if President Biden is re-elected and pursues his clean energy policies more aggressively than before. The Biden government invested billions in combatting climate change, and one expects that to co ntinue upon re-election. With that backdrop, here are three renewable energy stocks you’d want to wager on now.
If any company needs a radical economic pivot, it’s solar energy technology specialist Enphase Energy (NASDAQ:ENPH). Once one of the big winners of…
In 2024, the US economy is demonstrating remarkable strength and resilience. With a robust labor market and signs of sustained consumer spending, economists are increasingly optimistic about economic growth. Despite challenges such as inflation concerns and shifting U.S. Federal Reserve policies, the market remains buoyant, reflecting confidence in the economy’s ability to navigate these changes and continue on a positive trajectory. Renewable energy stocks enjoy an established presence in the market but are expected to continue growing for the foreseeable future as the transition from gas-powered to alternate energy proceeds. In 2022, the market was valued at $970 billion but is forecast to reach $2.2 trillion by 2032. This impressive strength will be a positive catalyst for these renewable energy stocks . Array Technologies Inc (ARRY) Source: Fit Ztudio / Shutterstock Array Technologies (NASDAQ: ARRY ) manufactures tracking systems used in solar energy projects. Its products turn solar panels to follow the sun’s path, boosting energy production.
Along with electric vehicles, investors see renewable energy stocks as an industry with the largest future potential. But after a tough couple of years in 2022 and 2023, renewable stocks have fallen out of favor. Renewable energy companies are among the hardest hit by global macroeconomic factors like high-interest rates. But with rates appearing to have peaked and cuts in the future, now is a great time to add to these beaten-down stocks. The World Economic Forum says solar and wind will officially surpass coal as the world’s leading energy sources in 2024. While artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductor stocks are making all of the headlines, savvy investors should rotate to sectors that are now playing catch-up. Coming into March, these are three undervalued renewable energy stocks that deserve to be on any investor’s radar.
